There were long traffic delays on the A38 earlier this afternoon (Saturday, November 13) following a collision between two lorries.

The incident, which happened just before the Kennford onslip road on the west-bound carriageway just before 2pm, saw miles of traffic backing up on both the M5 and A30 as emergency services dealt with the collision.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘One lorry unfortunately went into the back of another, one of which was a tanker believed to be carrying liquefied petroleum gas.’

‘The road was closed to allow fire service to assist at the scene and allow safe recovery of both vehicles and we have no reports of any injuries to persons at the scene.’

The road was reported clear by National Highways shortly after 4.30pm
