POLICE pounced at Bakers Park in Newton Abbot over the weekend after a receiving a tip-off about raids being executed on allotment sheds.

Officers rushed to the scene where a 25-year-old local man was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft.

He remains in custody this morning (April 1) after last night’s drama which kicked off at 7.20pm.

A police spokesman said numerous sheds had been targetted.

Gardening equipment, including a strimmer, was recovered near the scene off Bradley Lane by police.

The spokesman added: ‘We are trying to identify shed owners. If any sheds have been broken into, the owners should contact us via 101 and quote crime CR/028429/19.’
