SEVEN swimmers at Coryton Cove, Dawlish, were helped by Teignmouth RNLI lifeboat crew after getting into difficulty in heavy surf by rocks.
The volunteer crew received the call to launch at 12.36pm on Thursday, August 20.
When they arrived on scene the swimmers had made it ashore onto the beach. Two crew members were placed ashore and gave casualty care until paramedics arrived on scene, five swimmers were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The lifeboat and crew returned safely to station.
