A MAN was due to appear in court today (June 7) charged with murdering a Bishopsteignton man in Teignmouth over the weekend.
David Ablett, 52, of Barnpark Terrace in the resort, was expected at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court this morning in connection with the death of 38-year-old Matthew Jackson.
Altogether three men, all from Teignmouth, were arrested as part of the murder inquiry launched on Sunday after Mr Jackson’s body was discovered outside a block of flats in Barnpark Terrace.
Police were called to the scene just before 8am after Mr Jackson’s body was found in front of a car opposite the flats.
Local residents spoke of their shock at the tragedy on their doorstep.
Mr Ablett was arrested earlier this week together with a 51-year-old man and a 39-year-old, both of whom were later released pending further inquiries.
The South Devon coroner has been informed of the tragedy. An inquest was expected to open to take formal evidence of identity.
