FIREFIGHTERS from Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Crediton, Torquay, Bovey Tracey and Ashburton have been involved in tackling a huge blaze at a Devon business park overnight.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire Service reports this morning (Friday): ‘The Fire Service received several calls for a large fire at the Hill Barton Business Park.

‘A Fire Appliances from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were mobilised to this incident along with the Water Bowser.

‘On arrival, crews made a request for an additional six fire appliances and two aerial ladder platforms to be mobilised.

‘Crews confirmed this incident to involve approximately 500 tonnes of waste wood well alight.’

Due to the large scale of the incident resources have been used from Middlemoor, Danes Castle, Topsham, Sidmouth, Exmouth, Honiton, Crediton, Torquay, Bovey Tracey, Bridgwater, Ivybridge, Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Tiverton, Colyton, Ashburton, Wellington, Totnes, Dawlish and USAR.
