A STABLE was severely damaged in a fire at Pitley Hill, Ashburton, early this morning (Monday).

A spokesperson said: ‘Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a potential barn fire at Pitley Hill. One fire appliance from Ashburton, one from Buckfastleigh along with the Water Carrier from Torquay were sent.

‘Upon arrival crews carried confirmed this to be a stable fire measuring 6M x 6M well alight.

‘Crews set to work to extinguish the fire using one main jet and one hose reel jet.

‘The stable was severely damaged by fire the cause was accidental.’
