POLICE have confirmed there were children on board a coach that crashed through a wall in Newton Abbot this afternoon (Thursday).
A police spokesperson said: ‘Police are at the scene of a collision between a school bus and a wall on Exeter Road, Newton Abbot, which occurred at around 3.25pm this afternoon.
‘All the children on board were uninjured.
‘A road closure is in place from Knowles Hill Road at Paynsford junction so motorists are advised to avoid the area while the bus is moved and the area made safe.
‘Arrangements are being made for the children to be returned to school.
‘Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101 or via email at [email protected] quoting log number 579, 10/12/20.
The Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing team tweeted from the scene: ‘We are currently dealing with a collision Ashburton Road junction of Highweek road Newton Abbot involving a bus.
‘At this time it appears to be non injury.
‘Expect delays as traffic in the area is heavy.’
