POLICE are urging the public to get their phones out if they see incidents of violence or anti-social behaviour in Teignmouth and Dawlish.

The appeal comes after two incidents of assaults featuring young people.

Now officers are appealing for help from individuals and businesses.

Police have been given video footage of an adult man being assaulted by a young person on Saturday April 12 outside the New Quay Inn.

And the Thursday before, April 10, a young person was punched in the face by another young person on the Back Beach.

This was said to have been in full view of other people.

A police spokesman said: ‘Youth anti-social behaviour and violence has been rearing its ugly head in recent weeks.

‘We are committed to using the full force of the law to deal with the individuals that are involved, but we need your help.

‘If you see any act of ASB or violence please get your phone out and film it.

‘We work closely with local business and the town council in relation to CCTV, but it cannot cover every area in town and we cannot be everywhere at once to stop it.’

Officers are keen to hear from the victim of the assault outside the New Quay Inn.
