POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a woman in Newton Abbot.

The woman was walking on East Street between 8.45am and 9am on Monday, January 17, when she was approached by a man at the junctions with Union Street and Tudor Road.

She was pushed against the wall by the man and sustained a number of injuries, including bruising to the side of her body. Both parties are known to each other.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident or has any information which may assist with inquiries.
