A MAN died after suffering a suspected heart attack at the wheel of his car near Bovey Tracey on Easter bank holiday Monday.

The motorist, in his 60s and from the Newton Abbot area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His Vauxhall car is thought to have hit a bank and flipped over on to its side some time after 1pm in Dunley Lane, near Pixeypark Copse, between Bovey Tracey and Hennock.

He was given CPR treatment at the scene by the emergency services before being pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident which involved police cordoning off the country lane between Little Helstonbench and Honeycombe Farm.

The road reopened just after 4pm.

Firefighters and paramedics worked together to give first aid to the driver at the scene.

A police spokesman said the coroner had been informed.
