A 17-YEAR-OLD girl was knocked to the ground as she was mugged in Teignmouth’s Bitton Avenue.
The victim struggled with her attacker who tried unsuccessfully to grab her handbag.
The attempted robbery, which left the girl with a shoulder injury, happened just before 8pm on Monday.
Police are anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or who may know the offender.
A spokesman said: ‘The victim was approached from behind by a man who attempted to steal her handbag, knocking her to the floor in the process.
‘Following a short struggle, the suspect made off empty-handed in the direction of Park Hill.’
The man being sought was about 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police via [email protected] or call 101 quoting reference CR/050979/16.
