A MAN accused of raping a girl under the age of 13 in Newton Abbot will have his case heard by Exeter Crown Court next month, magistrates in Torquay have decided.

Rodney Howliston, 64, of Stokeinteignhead, is accused of seven child sex offences with the girl between 2005 and 2013.

One matter involved rape while others related to sexual assault and inciting the youngster to engage in sexual activity with him.

Howliston, who appeared before magistrates on Wednesday, was remanded on conditional bail until the crown court hearing on November 4.
