A MAN was led to safety after a kitchen blaze in Teignmouth early today.

Firefighters from the resort went to Cartwright Crescent after a smoke alarm sounded.

They clambered through a first floor window to wake the sleeping occupier who was led from the property while the small fire was dealt with.

Two pans were taken off the cooker and taken outside while the property was cleared of smoke with a ventilation fan.

The fire crew left the scene after making sure the property was safe.

The occupier did not require medical treatment.
