FIREFIGHTERS used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to put out a kitchen fire at Lawn Gardens, Chudleigh, yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

Fire Control received a call reporting a fire alarm sounding and smoke seen at a property on Lawn Gardens in Chudleigh at 3.24pm.

Fire engines from Bovey Tracey, Ashburton and Newton Abbot were quickly mobilised. 

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Upon arrival, fire crews were able to confirm a small fire in the ground floor kitchen of the property and they got to work extinguishing the fire using one hose reel jet, a safety jet and breathing apparatus.

‘The fire was successfully extinguished and the cause was believed to be accidental.’
