PLASTIC recycling equipment caught fire in Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services said: ‘The fire service were called (at 2.39pm) to a fire in a recycling impactor involving a small amount of plastic recycling.

‘One crew from Newton Abbot and one crew from Torquay attended.

‘The crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the area was safe.’
