A FAR-right extremist has been jailed for posting racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic rants on his own internet television channel.

Former Newton Abbot man Alexander Gray set up a channel called Whiteness in the West Country on the Telegram social media site and posted 62 videos in which he spewed hate against black people, Muslims and homosexuals.

He was described as ‘an epitome of a racist thug’ by at Judge at Exeter Crown Court who said Gray’s hatred extended to almost all sections of society.

The videos included Gray making Hitler salutes and boasting of being a white supremacist. One urged people in Devon and Cornwall to expel black people and make the area racially pure.

He re-posted a video which mocked up an attack on an Asian family by and armed gang of racists which ended in a mass shooting.

His own three to six minute long videos, recorded on his phone in his bedroom in a hostel in Torquay, repeatedly used the N word as well as glorifying Nazis.

He claimed society was being taken over by blacks, feminists and lesbians and urged white people to ‘wake up’ and ‘stand up’. One ended with a Nazi salute and other with him ranting ‘Heil Victory’ and ‘White Power’.

The police’s anti-terrorism unit traced Gray, who made no secret of his online activity and used the name whiteguyalex on Telegram, where his channel attracted only 250 subscribers.

Officers had previously warned him about his racist behaviour after he caused a disturbance in the centre of Torquay by making Hitler salutes.

Gray, aged 29, of Newton Road, Torquay, and formerly of Courtenay Street, Newton Abbot, admitted four counts of stirring up racial hatred, possession of the class B drug Spice, and was jailed for two years by Recorder Mr Malcolm Galloway.

He told him: ‘Your footage was insulting and abusive and intended to stir up racial hatred. Undoubtedly, you have a distorted view of the world which has resulted in you fearing and hating everybody, including those who you call white.

‘There is no section of society who was not targeted by you. You blame everyone but yourself for the failures in your life, whether they relate to your role in society or your relationships with women.

‘The 62 posts almost all contain racist, homophobic or anti-Semitic content. Perhaps it is a positive indication of this country that there were only 250 followers.

‘You are described in the probation report as the epitome of a racist thug and they take the view there is no indication that any intervention will change that.’

Mr Daniel Pawson-Pounds, prosecuting, said police raided Gray’s home in July this year and seized his phone. He shouted to neighbours as he was taken away that he was going to prison ‘because we are being ruled over by Jews’.

In one video he spoke about Torbay being one of the only places in Britain where you can see white women with white children and said he hated racial mixing and thought women with black boyfriends were ‘scummy whores’.

He told his followers that if they didn’t act, they would be ‘digging their children’s graves, saying ‘don’t forget, these people are savages’.

The Whiteness in the West Country channel had only 250 followers but could have been viewed by anyone on the platform.

He repeated many of his views when interviewed and told police ‘I’m entitled to express white supremacy how I want’.

Mr Adrian Chaplin, defending, said Gray had not advocated violence in any of his videos and they only reached a very small audience.
