AN ELDERLY woman had to be rescued from a lift in Newton Abbot, yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

Fire crews from Newton Abbot were sent to reports of a person shut in a lift at Ashburton Road.

On arrival crews discovered one elderly woman shut in the lift.

Lift keys were used to release the female and a lift engineer was requested.
