A WOMAN pedestrian has died as a result of an accident on Monday evening on the A380 South Devon Highway near Newton Abbot.

The 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and police have launched an appeal for information and witnesses.

A police spokesman said on Tuesday: ‘Police were called at around 11pm on Monday 27th of July to the A380, South Devon Highway near Newton Abbot, following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

‘Emergency services including numerous ambulance units and the Air Ambulance attended the scene and despite their best efforts a 48-year-old local woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

‘Her next of kin have been informed.

‘The driver of the car was uninjured.

‘Police would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have relevant dash-cam footage.’
