TWO young men were injured when their vehicles collided head-on in floodwater just outside Newton Abbot.

One of the casualties, in his 20s, was rescued from his vehicle by paramedics and firefighters after suffering suspected neck injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital after the Thursday morning collision. His injuries were not believed to be serious.

The accident happened on the Old Exeter Road to Teigngrace about 100 metres from its junction with the main road from Newton Abbot to Bovey Tracey.

The second motorist, also in his 20s, was out of his vehicle by the time all three emergency services descended on the scene.

He was checked over by paramedics.

It’s thought the flooded road to Teigngrace may have been a contributory cause of the accident which happened just after 8am.
