A CAR was severely damaged in a fiere on the M5A near Exminster this afternoon (Wednesday)

Fire control received reports of a vehicle on fire on the M5A Southbound between junction 30 and 31 at just after 2pm.

A spokesperson said: ‘Control immediately mobilised two fire appliances from Danes Castle.

‘Once on scene crews confirmed a fire in the engine compartment and got straight to work using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

‘The car was 50 per cent damaged by fire and 100 per cent damaged by smoke. Duty of care was left with Highways.’
