A CAR was badly damaged in a fire that was thought to be started deliberately on Teignmouth’s Den Promenade just after midnight last night,
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received numerous calls from members of the public reporting a car on fire in the early hours of Monday morning.
A fire service spokesperson said: ‘One fire appliance from Teignmouth was immediately mobilised by Fire Control.
‘On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that one car was well alight and got crews to work to extinguish the fire using breathing apparatus and a compressed air foam jet.
‘A nearby vehicle was moved by crews away from the fire to prevent the fire spreading.
‘The fire caused approximately 80% damage to the vehicle. Police were informed as the fire was thought to have been started deliberately.’
