A SUSPECTED stolen car was torched on open land in Bishopsteignton this morning (September 18).

A fire crew from Teignmouth dealt with the incident in Shepherds Lane after the alarm was raised just after 10.30am.

The car was badly damaged in the blaze, as was a patch of heathland around it measuring five square metres.

A hosereel jet and small tools were used to tackle the incident.

Police were informed of the matter for investigation.
