A man from Ashburton has denied threatening another person with a kitchen knife during a confrontation in the town.
Wajeeh Izharuddin, aged 26, pleaded not guilty to threatening Gary Knights with a bladed article and putting him in fear of violence in North Street, Ashburton, on September 14 this year.
Izharuddin, of Roborough Avenue, Ashburton, admitted the lesser offence of possession of a knife in a public place.
Judge Peter Johnson adjourned his case at Exeter Crown Court for a trial next year and remanded him in custody.
Mr Brian Fitzherbert, prosecuting, said the plea to the lesser offence was not acceptable on its own, so there will have to be a trial.
