A ROAD accident has closed the main A379 outside Dawlish this afternoon.

There have been reports a car has overturned closed to the entrance to Dawlish Countryside Park.

Police are said to be at the scene and route around the area have been described as ‘gridlocked’.

The A379 Exeter Road is closed in both directions between Shutterton Lane at Dawlish Warren and Port Road, Cofton.

The accident is believed to have happened at about 1.20pm.
