Crimestoppers’ Devon and Cornwall chairman Mike Fowkes said: ‘These are great results and represent a sustained determination and effort from the public, Crimestoppers and the law enforcement agencies to keep our communities safe and bring wanted people to justice.’
He added: ‘Year in and year out the results obtained through Crimestoppers are absolutely amazing. I cannot thank our local community enough for the information they give anonymously. With the public’s continued help these results can be even better next year.’
Crimestoppers recently marked the tenth anniversary of its hugely successful Most Wanted online gallery.
The website, which lists photographs and descriptions of known suspects as well as CCTV images of ‘unknowns,’ gives members of the public the opportunity to give information about any of the individuals to Crimestoppers anonymously.
In the last year alone 17 ‘wanted’ people were arrested in Devon and Cornwall.
Mr Fowkes said: ‘I would ask the public to please take a look at the current list of Most Wanted to see if they can provide any information on them.’
