RESIDENTS across Teignbridge are being asked to take care as Storm Eleanor hits the region.

Conditions are expected to be worst in north Devon but winds tonight are likely to reach 50mph in south Devon.

Devon County Council has issued a weather warning of disruption to roads caused by surface flooding and debris.

Significant rainfall is expected and residents are being asked to take care and be wary of fallen trees and land slips, especially on rural roads and coastal routes.

Strong winds could gust up to 50mph.

Cllr Stuart Hughes, cabinet member for highways, said: ‘With stormy weather forecasted, travelling conditions may be difficult across the county.

‘It could cause delays an disruption overnight and tomorrow.

‘Drains may not be able to cope with high levels of rainfall.

‘So I would urge everyone to be wary of the possibility of surface water.

‘Please remember not to attempt to drive through road closures or flood water.

‘If conditions are stormy, keep away from cliffs and exposed coasts.

‘If people need sandbags, contact local district or town councils.’
