Shaldon Water Carnival saw plenty of fun and games once again this year.

The Royal Party officially opened the 52nd Shaldon Water Carnival in the morning and soon the beach was packed with children creating Olympic-themed sand sculptures before racing to fill their buckets with as many crabs as they could catch.

Nearby, local chefs demonstrated their skills in the cookery tent; dice were thrown to win a kayak; pillows were flung around in the pillow fight; chalk boards were covered with imaginative pictures and local food produce and drink was consumed. Alan Austin’s magic proved a huge hit once again as children crowded around to watch the show.
