Brunel waste plans scrapped
Friday, 27 April 2012
‘We’ve made a mistake – I suggest we withdraw this’
CONTROVERSIAL plans for a recovery power-generating waste incinerator on the Brunel Industrial Estate, Newton Abbot, have been scrapped.
The proposal was in a list of six recovery and four landfill site options in Devon County Council’s Devon Waste Plan Consultations Document for further consideration, revealed exclusively in the Mid-Devon Advertiser at the end of last month.
Even Newton Abbot’s county councillors Gordon Hook and Anne Fry were in the dark until they read it in this newspaper.
