Motoring PR: the ‘pinnacle’ of guff and waffle

All week long, the Friends and alloys email inbox has been filling up with news from the Geneva Motor Show.

It really is one of those events I must get round to attending one day as it has become the biggest of its kind in Europe and is where most concept models and big automotive news break cover.

Fascinating to see the emerging trends, new shapes and gadgets the designers have lined up for us.

I have to say though, there is an extraordinary amount of waffle and guff. Take the spiel from BMW about its updated Rolls Royce Phantom for instance.

The firm boasts that the model is the first production car to have full LED headlamps allowing for ‘new technologies that better control lighting’, adding: ‘Curve light functionality, for example.’

Curve light functionality? Sorry, but light always has, and always will, travel in a straight line, as any physics teacher will tell you.
