I can be a bit of a grumpy old Hector first thing in the morning and the thought of sharing my commute with anyone is not an attractive one – for all concerned.

However, there is no doubt that doubling up saves costs, and it pleases the green lobby.

To those ends I feel obliged to pass this on from County Hall.
