Newton river rescue for fire crews

FIRE crews were called out to an early morning river rescue in Newton Abbot today (Sunday Aug 6th).

Two appliances from Newton Abbot and one from Bovey Tracey attended the scene near Whitelake Place where a man was stuck in the water down a river bank and unable to get out.

A Devon and Somerset Fire Service spokesman said: Crews arrived on scene just before 4am and assisted the male out. An ambulance was also requested due to the male suffering from hypothermia.”

Duty of care was left with paramedics.
